Ummagma - Antigravity

Ummagma is Canadian/Ukrainian duo based in Ukraine. I feel that they are band that makes music from the heart, since both of their albums transfer very strong feelings. Songs from Antigravity evocate emotions such as coldness, solitude and emptiness. Album Ummagma is maybe a bit tougher and has more lo-fi sound, but still awakes very deep feelings. Their music is ambient, colored with shoe-gaze guitar sounds, gentle female vocals and smooth drums and it could be perfect soundtrack for TV series such as Skins. Ummagma's music is gradually changing, after peaceful and dreamy beginning we slowly enter the intense ending.

Mote - Demo Tape

When these guys from Louisville sent me an e-mail, I was curious to hear their music for two reasons. First,  recently I've received similar e-mail from another band from Louisville which turned out to be one of my favorite new bands, White Reaper. Second, description of their music was also interesting, they compared themselves to Pavement, Dinosaur Jr. and 90's alternative bands. Naturally I had to hear them. Maybe they have a bit of that 90's indie flavor and a touch of early screamo but I wouldn't compare them to any of that. Same feeling I had first time I heard Tame Impala, sounds so familiar but you can't quite put a finger on it. Whatever they doing I think it works and they could be really big. Check out their bandcamp, they have a few really good lo-fi releases.

The Counter Culture - Lost In The Underground

The Counter Culture is a solo project of Jamie Thomson, hailing from Edinburgh/Aberdeen, Scotland. Other than being known for football, these cities have some awesome music too. It is really hard to define what genre Jamie's music belongs to but I can say that it is highly influenced by pop culture, new american garage revival, noise, 60's psychedelia and shoegaze. What is sure is that Jamie took the best from all of influences and made something beautiful and new. His peaceful voice mixed with calm guitar riffs will make you feel like you are walking through palm trees while sea waves are splashing your face.
